Vice President calls on traditional leaders to strengthen partnership with gov't.

Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has underscored the critical role of traditional leadership in national development.

Speaking at a durbar to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the enstoolment of Krachiwura Nana Mprah Besemuna III at Kete Krachi, she commended the Krachiwura for his sustained efforts to unite his people, noting that such leadership continues to reinforce social cohesion.

"The role of chieftaincy remains indispensable in safeguarding our traditions and maintaining harmony within our communities," she stated. "Where traditional authority is strong and stable, development is better anchored and more sustainable."

Professor Opoku-Agyemang further emphasised the importance of collaboration between government and traditional institutions, particularly in addressing complex development challenges.

The Vice President reaffirmed the government's commitment to deepening decentralisation, strengthening district assemblies, and ensuring that development initiatives reach communities at the grassroots level.

The anniversary, celebrated under the theme "25 Years of Transformational Leadership: A Call to Revive Our Heritage and Rebuild Our Alliances," highlighted the enduring relevance of chieftaincy in preserving culture, promoting peace, and fostering unity.
